Current mood:
(tired)
I’m trying to keep my promise about writing every day so here it goes!
I couldn’t sleep last night. I was awake until 1 AM or even later. My alarm was set at 6.30 AM. Ouch!
Even though I slept way too short I got up just fine. I was a bit stressed last night which caused the none-sleeping part and a huge zit next to my nose. Why does this always happens when I have a shoot?
I packed my stuff and drove off to Kijkduin at 7.40 AM. Arrived early in Kijkduin so I called Vicky if I could pick her up somewhere. She was already on her way to Central Station to pick up the other MUA for the shoot and told me to just go to the beach club where we were supposed to meet and order coffee. Sounded like a good idea
When I was locking the car I saw another girl arriving. She had a suitcase full of clothes so I figured she was here for the shoot as well. We introduced ourselves (her name is Sharon) and decided to look for the beach club. Of course we couldn’t find it at first (we’re both blondes) but with a little help from a nice lady and another model who joined us (Amber) in the search we made it after all. 9 AM sharp. We were the first there. No Comodels folks yet
… COFFEE!
After a few minutes the other models (Diane and Ingrid) arrived and the ones who brought their book/pics showed them to each other. Diane had the most experience (she has been modeling a lot as a child for major stores and brands). The others were basically just starting out. Then Vicky and Michelle arrrived. Very nice to see Michelle again. I didn’t know she was going to be the other MUA for the shoot. We had a lot of catching up to do (Vicky, Michelle and I).
After coffee we had to unpack and show the clothes we brought. Of course I brought the most lol. Can’t hurt right? And I was by car so I could take everything I wanted. I brought loads of scarfs, belts, necklaces, shoes, boots, skirts, dresses, tops etcetera etcetera (which came in handy when the other models were looking for outfits lol). With the MUA’s (who were also in charge of the styling) we chose 2 outfits each. Then we went into make-up. Vicky did me and Michelle did Amber. For the first shoot I wore an off-white and green skirt with a large flower, a pink strapless top, a pink and green flowered belt and off-white ankle boots. I think it was a bit tacky looking (with make-up and hairstyling) but could have been fashion too so I’m hoping it turned out to be the last one lol.
For the second I was more casual dressed: white pants, white and red bikini top and white blouse. I even borrowed a red belly button piercing from Diane to match the bikini top lol. My makeup was red lips and blue eyes (basically) and my hair was put up with 3 red straws in it. It looked awesome! I felt good in this outfit. We shot at the beach, next to a police car on the beach and in the water. I got soaked (very funny if you’re wearing white lol).
The other girls looked fabulous too! It’s awesome how make-up can transform you in someone completely different. When I showed my book to the photographer he was like:”HUH?! So you are Marloes?? I didn’t recognise you at all!”. Don’t know if it’s good or bad but I guess it means I look horrid in person but good in pics which makes me photogenic and a good model… RIGHT GUYS?!?!
Later in the afternoon Margot, the agency manager, arrived to give advice concerning poses and expressions. I talked to her quite a lot about the agency, their plans, my book etcetera. She adviced me on my book (said it’s really strong and I should check out some of the other agencies as well). She said to take out about 3 pics so I’ll take her advice on that one. She has been doing lots of shows and bridal stuff. I’d love to do bridal!! She said I would be good for shows too
We finished at 4 PM and the other models and I celebrated our positive experience by having a huge icecream sherbet!
YUMMY!
(I didn’t have dinner to make up for it… j/k!! Eelco made hotdogs lol. I’ll start dieting again tomorrow… I PROMISE!)
Love ya!
Marloes
