Flower Power

The reason I haven’t posted over the weekend is that I was out on a modeling job! Well, not a paid job or anything. Just a gathering of superduper photographers, makeup artists and models. It was my first modeling gig since July 2004 so I had some catching up to do. The objective was to have fun.. and if that resulted in great pics, then even better. And fun we had!

The idea for this shoot popped up months ago in the Dutchheaven chatroom, at a time I wasn’t even around. I only heard about it a week ago and kinda invited myself to come along I knew it would be fun ’cause Majella and Bart would be there. I didn’t really know the rest of the party except for some of them who I met in virtual life and by pictures. The shoot was in Berlicum (about 1,5 hour drive from Scheveningen) at Bart and Ytje’s summer house in the woods. A perfect setting.

Eelco was the sweet boyfriend again and offered to drive me there (he obviously doesn’t have any faith in my driving skills ). We picked up Majella in Breda at 10AM and arrived in Berlicum at 11. Bart and Ytje were already there -of course- and so were our Belgian friends model Nikki and her b/f Frederik and model Moniek K. a.k.a. “bioooootch” a.k.a. “Peggy Bundy”

Soon after us photographer Wouter and his g/f and mua-to-be Nathalie arrived with model Moniek H. and her sister Ilse. After a cup of coffee to wake up and lunch we started with the makeup. At that time photographer Herman and mua Sylvia were nowhere to be found. Stuck in traffic, or so I was told. I was the first to jump up to get my makeup done (w00t w00t) so Majella started with me and Nathalie started on Moniek H. After me, Majella got to “do” Moniek K. and by that time Herman and Sylvia had arrived as well. No time for coffee for our late arrivers. Syl had to start on Nikki’s makeup to get us all ready for our first shoot. All the girls had brought gypsy-like clothing and accessories and put everything on a big blanket on the floor. We helped each other with the styling. There wasn’t really a rotation schedule or anything so it was a matter of seeing who’s available to shoot with and just go with the flow. Some shoots alone with a photographer and other shoots with multiple models and/or multiple photographers.

After everyone had finished their shoots, we celebrated this day’s success with a big BBQ. Lots of delicious chicken soup by Sylvia, wine, beer and meat thanks to Ytje (”the management”). We had live music from Bart and Wouter playing the guitar. Everyone was singing along songs like “Angie”, “Another brick in the wall” or even the theme song to the “A-team” We had so much fun! Thanks to Wouter this amazing group picture was taken (I’m the one in the green body warmer on the left side of the picture, of course fighting with Moniek K.).

Some of the group had to drive back and others were staying the night (including me). When the last one had left, stylist and model Roos and photographer Ronn arrived. They had spent their evening at a U2 concert so they just came along to spice up the party. We stayed up talking and singing until 6AM. The sun was already rising so it was time to get some sleep. We didn’t get a lot of it due to extreme coldness and Syl was the first to wake up at about 10AM. I soon followed and after a not-so-quick shower I felt awake again.

At noon Eelco arrived and at 3 everyone went home. It was an amazing weekend and I wouldn’t have missed it for the world!!

-Roos and Marloes drank 2 bottles of wine in a very short period of time and didn’t throw up?
-two of the group were spotted in a tent together?

-and that they didn’t know that until last Saturday?

-Sylvia and Marloes listened to Marloes’ Ipod with musical songs until everyone got bored?
-Sylvia, Roos and Majella turned Ronn into Rowena?
-Bart took pictures of Ronn as Rowena?
-Marloes told Majella to be carefull with her necklaces?
-Majella wrecked one anyway?
-Sylvia makes the best chicken soup?
-Roos snores when she’s drunk?
-Marloes does too?
-Marloes got stung by a thousand mosquitos and a horse fly?
